Who will triumph at Cock Howe and Beyond on Wednesday night ? This is the next race in the Northern Runner / Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series. Registration/Start/Finish is at the Chop Gate Car Park, 3 miles South of Clay Bank, Near Stokesley, North Yorkshire. The event is about 10km long with a good long climb at the start and a good fast descent at the end. The fun starts at 7.15pm Wednesday 23rd July. Entry on the night only.

A great night for running not too hot but a strong breeze particularly on the North facing descent to The Scout Hut. It was a long line of runners up to Surprise View and across to Drakes Howe. The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is the Carlton Midsummer Meander which takes place on Wednesday 9th July 7.15 pm start. Registration/start/finish is at Carlton Bank Top, Near Stokesley, North Yorks. Entry is £6 on the day only. This is one of the more testing races in the series with a good climb from the off followed by a descent over rough heather before another long climb and a descent to the finish. The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series was one of those days when it has rained all night and continued to be showery. We managed to be given a pleasant window in the weather. A bit disappointing with the turn out but a race is a race and you have to be in it to win it! The race starts at 10.30am from Maybeck Car Park, Near Whitby, North Yorkshire, one mile past the caravan park which is at grid ref 895040. Entry is £6 on the day. The latest race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series was the Whorlton Chase which a fabulous night! The sun we had ordered was shining making it the hottest day of the year and the pub said the beer sales were excellent! We raised £120.00 towards the playing field fund and new equipment is due to be fitted next week in the children’s play area.
