The final race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is the Viking Chase 4 Peaks which takes place on Sunday 21st September. The event is organised by the Cleveland Mountain Rescue and all proceeds go to them. The route is just short of 8 miles and starts at the Lordstones Cafe, Carlton Bank, Carlton in Cleveland, North Yorkshire TS9 7JH (grid ref 524030). The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is Castleton Show Race on Saturday 13th September. This is about 10km on the road but, don’t be fooled into thinking it won’t be as hilly as other races in the series. There are junior races for all age groups as well as the senior race. The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series was a balmy autumnal evening. There was a good mix of both Juniors and Seniors for the 61st running of The Roseberry Topping Races. It did not take long in the men’s race for Jack Willis to break away at the front with Duncan Bertwistle, Andy Blackett and Peter Bray giving pursuit. The next race in the Northern Runner/Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is Roseberry Topping Fell Race on Wednesday 10th September. The 61st running of the classic race will start at 7pm from the National Trust Car Park just South of Newton Under Roseberry, Near Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. Entry is £6 on the night only.
