Northern Runner/Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series Results 2013/14

Kay Neesam (New Marske harriers) flew to the Northern Runner / Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series gaining maximum points. The men’s was won by Jayson Cavill (Pickering) who took his great form to the Yorkshire Three Peaks Fell Race on Saturday and ran 8 minutes quicker than he did in 2013 taking 3 hours 20 minutes to get round the 60th running of the event. Fox and Hounds Fell Race Results 2014

Weather was not on our side for The Fox & Hounds as it approached it’s 30th birthday. Mist was thick and there was a gentle drizzle so much so that a number of runners actually used their compasses! Fox and Hounds 2014

The final race in the Northern Runner Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Fox and Hounds Chase on Sunday 27th April starting at 10.30am. Registration/Start/Finish is at the Fox and Hounds Public House in Ainthorpe, Near Danby on the North Yorkshire Moors. The race is about 9 miles long with 1500 feet of ascent. The route is mainly on moorland paths so fell shoes will be best. Entry is on the day only. Click here to see a map of the route.

The opening times at Northern Runner over the Easter weekend are as follows: Thursday 17th April – 10.00am – 7.00pm Good Friday 18th April – 11.00am – 4.00pm Saturday 19th April – 9.00am – 5.30pm Easter Sunday 20th April – CLOSED Easter Monday 21st April – 11.00am – 4.00pm Tuesday 22nd April – 10.00am – 5.30pm Then regular opening hours will resume. Gisborough Moors Fell Race 2014

Weather was set fair for the penultimate race in The Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series. In the men’s race Jim Bulman was away very quickly having established a 100M. lead by the Highcliff turn. The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is Gisborough Moors Fell Race on Sunday 13th April 2014. This is the Classic Fell Race on the North Yorkshire Moors the route is 12.5 miles long and goes over Captain Cook, Roseberry Topping and High Cliffe Nab.
