Whorlton Chase Results 2014
The latest race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series was the Whorlton Chase which a fabulous night! The sun we had ordered was shining making it the hottest day of the year and the pub said the beer sales were excellent! We raised £120.00 towards the playing field fund and new equipment is due to be fitted next week in the children’s play area. Back to the races – In the senior men it was evident after the first mile that there were only two contenders to win which were James Bulman and Lewis Rodgers. They managed to beat the logging vehicle as they ran the parallel path up to the first check. The ground was very bumpy once they were past check three and due to the logging you had to be careful over some of the caterpillar tracks. As they descended they were still neck and neck past the sunken pit and the farm. Into the last mile Lewis surged away and as James stated it was the younger legs that prevailed in the finish section. For full results click here.
