The next race in the Northern Runner Summer Fell Race Series is the popular Gribdale Gallop. As well as having some big steep climbs this race is also fast underfoot. The race starts at 7.15pm and is about 8 miles long with 1400 feet of ascent. The first climb hits you straight away as you start... Read More
A sultry night with mist and constant refreshing rain. Matthew Hammerton was soon in the lead establishing a good gap by the time he reached the old farm buildings. Darren Birtwistle in second managed to get this right whilst the pursuers were all over as they tried to recover their position. In the women’s event Catherine Williamson was in that group of pursuers but still managed to be... Read More

Inov-8 Trailroc’s are the latest shoe about to be launched by Britain’s off road running company. Designed to be used on hard packed trails these shoes offer a bit more underfoot protection than Inov-8’s fell shoes and are a bit more hard wearing. So, they will be ideal for training on tracks and paths or through the woods. As well as racing on this type of terrain. Click here to watch a short film.

If you want to see what this is all about why not pop into our sister shop Lakes Climber and Runner in Ambleside (3-4 Cheapside) and go into Bilbo’s Cafe upstairs for a cuppa. As usual Lakes Runner will be the 85 mile checkpoint on the 100 miler with... Read More
