X-PT Fitness is hosting a Orienteering event for all ages an abilities to raise funs for SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity and Breast Cancer Care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get the family, a group of mates or collegues together for a morning of competitive fun. Orienteering is for all ages and degrees of fitness and skill. It provides the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt. The object of orienteering is to locate control points by using a map and compass to navigate through the woods and countryside.

Registration, start and finish is at the Dipton Jubilee Centre, Front Street, Dipton, County Durham DH9 9DR. The event is between 10am and 2pm on Sunday 4th March. Entry is in advance only.

A payment of £20.00 per team (up to 5 members) to be made via a pay-pal link (click here). On receipt of payment we will contact you via email to confirm your place and also to clarify how many members will be in your team.

All bookings must be made and paid in advance as no team booking can be made on the day of the event.

Please note all payments are non refundable unless the event for whatever reason is cancelled.

We will be hosting 2 competitions on the day with prize giving for the winners of both races.

Event 1 (more suitable for younger participants)
Score Based Competition
In this event, the area chosen for the competition is blanketed with many control points. The controls near the start/finish point have a low point value, while those more distant or more difficult to locate have a high point value. This event requires the competitor(s) to locate as many control markers as they can within the specified time (2 hours). Points are awarded for each control visited and deducted for exceeding the specified time. The competitor(s) with the highest point score win.

Event 2 (more suitable for adults due to overall distance covered)
Distance 6.6 miles
8 Control Points
In this event participants/teams will set off in 5 minute intervals and must visit each control point in order. The quickest team to finish the route wins the competition.

All control points will be manned.

We will be providing a hot and cold refreshments stall, cake stall and made to order scrummy team packed lunches to keep everyone’s energy up whilst on task.
