Roseberry Topping Fell Race 2012

The final event in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is Roseberry Topping Fell Race. The race takes place on Wednesday 12th September 7pm from the car park at Newton Under Roseberry. There is no need for a route map as you just run straight up to the cairn and down again.

There is a bit of route choice. On the ascent you can either go up the gully which is closer to climbing than running or run round on the path. Most folks go up the gully these days. I’m not sure it’s faster so it might be that they fancy a walk ? As you reach the summit cone you can either follow the path round or go up the scree. Most folk up the path.

On the descent it is best to come down the scree from the summit and then go down the gully. The path used to be faster when it was grass but the resurfacing makes it harder to run on and you can’t just let yourself go. Either way it doesn’t take long to come down !

Entries on the night only.
