Ossy Oiks Fell Race Results 2012

Another fine but sultry night at about 19 degrees C. After the first climb the leaders in both races had a reasonable lead. The two leaders in the men’s race Cameron Taylor and Paul Lowe had 200 M whilst Kay Neesam had a short lead over Ashleigh Thorpe. The men’s race continued to be tight at the front with over 400M lead at Cod Beck Reservoir beck crossing. Cameron now had a short lead which he managed to extend by a few metres on the climb back up to the signal station. At the point however Cameron’s local knowledge gave him a further advantage and Paul lost him to sight. This allowed a very fast finish with Cameron a clear winner. In the women’s event Kay managed to stay ahead with a decent lead before the descent where she was able to extend this to finish comfortably clear. In the team races both the winners North York Moors in the mens and Thirsk & Sowerby in the womens, were comfortable winners and both finished a ‘B’ team in third place. Esk Valley were able to hold onto second in both competitions.
In the men’s event there was a very strong competition in the Male 50 Veterans category with five finishers in the top 21 places. Ian Rowbotham just holding off Ken Maynard to win. hope to see you at clay Bank next week for The new event … The Broughton Wood Wobble. Dave Parry
