Incline to Madness Fell Race Results 2014
A beautiful summer’s night moving into Autumn cooling rapidly after 8.00pm with a strong easterly wind on the top moor. Presentation as usual was in the dark by torchlight. In the men’s event Jack Willis had an excellent outing having got away from the field on the long, lung bursting ‘Incline’ Charlie Stead was the main pursuer coming into some excellent form with Chris Roberts and Cameron Taylor duelling behind just ahead of Austin Frost. In the women’s event Kay Neesam pulled ahead as the race progressed with Nicola Kent and Anwen Darlington not far away having their own private race. At the finish Jack was over a minute clear from Charlie whilst Chris edged out Cameron on the final descent.
In the women’s it was Kay who came in over a minute clear with Nicola just out sprinting Anwen on the line. Anwen however had some honour by leading her team – Knavesmire, to victory over New Marske in the women’s team event. In the men’s team event it became a Knavesmire double with Knavesmire comfortably ahead of Esk Valley & Loftus and Whitby. The next event is the 61st.
