Incline to Madness Fell Race 2017

It was a terrific evening of Fell racing at the latest Dave Parry/Northern Runner Summer Fell Race series event – Inclined to Madness taking its name from former railway line incline midrace.

The rain cleared out well before the race replaced with a mild perfect running evening.

Overall winner was Paul Lowe of Darlington Harriers, in a navigation error free run Paul eased to victory over Martin Perry of Esk Valley Fell Club. In the women’s race it was Alison Matthews claiming a double victory for Darlington Harriers from Kay Neesam of New Marske Harriers.

Darlington were also victorious in the mens team event with Paul Allan, Graham Hindmarch and Jeff Miller supporting Paul.

Scarborough AC raced to the women’s team prize with Rhona Marshall (nee Haslam) a returning Katy Rawnsley and Sue Haslam.

There was a great turnout of 147, a donation will go to Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team and thank you David Bannister and York Acorn for organising.

Next race Gribdale Gallop on Wednesday 16th August.
