What was noticeable in the men’s race was that the first eight runners were from different clubs. In the men’s race Jim Bulman was soon in a clear lead with Paul Butler his main challenger. By Roseberry Jim had a clear lead of two minutes with Paul being three minutes ahead of the third placed runner Nick Barber. This order remained through the finish line. In the women’s race Catherine Williamson was a clear winner followed by Nicola Kent, Kay Neesam, Shelli Gordon and Kath Aspin in a line as they came off Roseberry with the biggest gap being between second and third. In the team events North York Moors were comfortably ahead of both Esk Valley and New Marske in the men’s event whilst in the women’s team event New Marske with excellent packing won from ‘Loftus and Whitby’ and ‘Thirsk and Sowerby.’ The closest category race of the night was in the M60 where Mike Shaw held off Stephen Ramsden, as they ‘cantered’ along the Roseberry/Gribdale wall. In the overall series the leading three in the men’s are Cameron J Taylor, Rob Williamson and Dan Middlemas. In the women’s they are Kay Neesam, Nicola Kent and Lorraine Hiles.
