North East Running Race Results & News Glaisdale Rigg Fell Race Results 2013 By northernrunner / March 5th, 2013 / There are currently 0 comments An overcast day but warm with temperatures at the start around 7 Celsius. Perfect for running and with a superb course with a bit of snow still in shaded areas, it gave a very pleasant atmosphere. As usual on this event a whole pack of runners charged off with too many at the front for the first two miles. At this point in both the men’s and women’s events the field started to spread. within the first five miles the men’s race was down to three competitors led by Jason Cavill but still in touch were Paul Butler and Charlie Stead. It was after this that Jason established a clear lead. Although Paul made every effort as series leader to get back in touch Jason showed the form of the last few months to move further away. It was good to see Charlie making recovery from his recent illness to come in a very competitive third. Knavesmire Men however packed well behind the lead trio to take the team race from Pickering and Esk Valley. In the women’s event the front three were again as in the men’s clear of the chasers led by Kimberley England, at the five mile mark. The three leaders being Carol Morgan, Shelli Gordon and Ruth Whitehead. Carol was always in the lead but being shadowed by Shelli some 30 seconds behind and Ruth slightly further back. As they came into the last section Carol conserved her lead to win by just over a minute with Ruth a further minute adrift but having the consolation of being the leading Veteran. The women’s team was won by Thirsk & Sowerby through good team packing. A record entry! well done to all participants and supporters. Best wishes … Dave Comments are closed here.
