Dragon’s Back Entries up for grabs !

Shane Ohley, organiser of the Dragon’s Back Race has announced that there are now 15 more places available on the event this September (2-8). This is the result of further negotiations with landowners along the 200+ mile course and by taking into account the inevitable last minute withdrawals.

The Dragon’s Back Race will be taking place this September, which will be the 20th anniversary of the original, legendary race. As before, competitors are vetted for suitable mountain and ultra running and navigational experience before being offered a place. Those keen Mountain Runners will remember that Martin Stone (The LAMM Organiser) and Helene Diamantides won the event which was the only time it was held. Helene Diamantides is entered again and is running with Steve Birkinshaw, an ex Northumberland Fell Runner who now lives in the Lake District and runs for Borrowdale. Steve is well known for his ability to just keen trucking along and is an excellent navigator having won all the major Mountain Marathon’s multiple times. So, they could be very difficult to beat.
