Donnelly and Wilkinson Dominate at Yetholm Fell Race

The second round of the British Fell Running Championships where dominated by ex- Northumberland Fell Runner, Morgan Donnelly (Borrowdale Fell Runners). Morgan won by an outstanding 1 minute 35 seconds from Yorkshire 3 Peaks winner Joe Symonds (Hunters Bog Trotters). The short steep climbs are very similar to the hills around Dufton, Cumbria, where Morgan lives which could explain the size of his winning margin. The 2011 British Fell Running Champion will be hoping that this is a return to form after only managing 6th place in the opening British Championship Race in Silent Valley, Northern Ireland. The two races remaining in the Championship are Blisco Dash and Peris Horseshoe. Two very challenging but, very different races in both distance and terrain. As the different terrain and distances suit different runners the British Fell Running Championships is still up for grabs.Click here for Men’s and Women’s Results.

Bingley Harriers Victoria Wilkinson was equally dominant in the Women’s event at the Yetholm Fell Race. Winning by over three minutes from Calder Valley’s Helen Fines. A result which placed her 28th overall which is a high quality performance in a British Championship race.
