Clay Bank West Fell Race 2016

Now that the snow has arrived it is time for the first race in the Northern Runner/Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series. This will be Clay Bank West on Wednesday 4th May 2016. All the proceeds from this race will go to Cleveland Mountain Rescue.

Clay Bank West is about 4 miles in length with around 1200 feet of ascent. Essentially the course starts on a large muddy bridleway and climbs up with the forestry on your right and two small hills on your left. When you have run past the hills you turn left onto a footpath and come back over the top of the two hills. Joining the original bridleway to run downhill into the finish. Registration is in the Clay Bank Car Park at the top of Clay Bank on the B1257 about 5 miles south of Stokesley. Entry is on the night only and is £6. The race starts at 7.15pm.

Fell shoes would be best for this race as the bridleway is likely to be muddy and the stone slabs over the top of the two hills slippy. However, a grippy trail shoe would get you round.
