Carlton Midsummer Meander Fell Race Results 2013
The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series soar temperatures rising to 25 degrees. In these conditions this proved a very testing route. Cameron Taylor made light of the first climb going up like a train with a clear lead at the top of about 45 secs. Catherine Williamson likewise was up with the small group of chasers to Cameron and had a slight lead on Kay Neesam. In the men’s race Cameron extended his lead comfortably until the last climb where ChristianHolmes and Charlie Stead seemed to close a fraction. At the finish Cameron was a very convincing winner setting the new record at 33.17.
In the women’s event the leading two were always ina race with Catherine holding onto her early lead and coming in just about a minute ahead of Kay. to set the new record at
39.28. In the team event Esk Valley were comfortable winners with a welcome return from Nigel
Tate and Tim Whitehead and Nick Wooley completing the team. In the women’s event
Esk Valley completed the double with Angela Dedmanand Ruth Hodgson being the team
members. Both on their first outing of the season –
well done.We managed to raise £240 for Cleveland Mountain Rescue and thanks to Esk Valley for
donating the prizes. In the junior event Angus McMillan won the U14 boys and Sam Clapton the U12’s.
