Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 vs. Adrenaline GTS 21

The difference between the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and the new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 support road running shoe is a question we’re getting a lot at Northern Runner in-store and online. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS is now in it’s 22nd edition. These are a road running shoe designed for the mild pronator. An everyday training shoe, designed for your easy runs and long runs. This is a shoe that has been so popular that Brooks were careful to make changes very minor over the years.

However, midsole technology has improved and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 now has a full length DNA Loft midsole. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 had a midsole made from a mix of DNA Loft and MoGo but now Brooks is able to make the midsole entirely out of DNA Loft and maintain the bouncy feel that this midsole gives for the life of the shoe.

What this key change in the midsole means to the runner is that the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 will feel noticeably softer, smoother and bouncier than the previous version. Although the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 is still versatile enough to be used for some quicker running, the new midsole makes it more of an easy run/long run shoe, as the midsole feels that bit softer.

For some runners this might be a bit too soft. For those runners Brooks has the Launch GTS. The Launch GTS offers the same level of pronation support as the Adrenaline GTS, but with a firmer more responsive midsole. This makes it easier to run quickly in the Launch GTS than it does in the Adrenaline GTS.

As the Adrenaline GTS 22 is softer than the previous model, the difference in feel of the Launch GTS and the Adrenaline GTS is a lot more pronounced.
