Glaisdale Rigg Fell Race Results

Is it June or are my senses betraying me? I had the temperature at 18 degrees C. In the afternoon. A very pleasant day for March with running conditions excellent. Another record entry and new records in the men’s event. At the start Cameron Taylor was in a group with Stuart Carmichael and Paul Butler. They extended their lead throughout the race until the leading two broke away from Paul with 3 miles still to go. The front two of Cameron and Stuart exchanged the lead a few times until the last descent when it looked like Stuart had sufficient advantage but Cameron put in a final surge as they turned into the last short uphill to just hold off Stuart on the line. This helped Esk Valley to claim the team competition from Loftus & Whitby with Northumberland Fell Runners third. In the women’s event Kay Neesam and Nicola Kent continued their season long battle with Kay just coming out on top this time. Nicola did however have the consolation of leading her team of Loftus & Whitby to the team win from Pickering and N’land FR. In the cumulative Team competition Esk Valley ‘A’ lead the men’s from North York Moors’A’ with Esk Valley ‘B’ in third. In the women’s cumulative Pickering RC lead with New Marske H second and Esk Valley third. The various categories in The Winter Championship are now coming to a head and awards will be made at The Fox & Hounds where possible which celebrates it’s 25th running this year. Special awards will be made relating to this anniversary. Don’t forget as we come to the longer races I need volunteers to marshall and clear courses. Best wishes…… Dave
