Bridlington Festival of Running 2011

PB Events are organising the first Bridlington Festival of Running on 4th and 5th June 2011. The weekend includes a flat fast 10km with chip timing and a 4 mile beach run.

Why not sign up for the full ‘weekend package’ and spend a couple of days beside the bracing Yorkshire seaside?! Bridlington offers a wide range of accommodation to suit every budget. Hotels, B&Bs, caravan parks, camp sites: the choice is yours.

The package includes race entries for the Grand Yorkshire 10K and ‘Beat The Clock’ Beach Race, along with a Spa entry ticket for the ‘Big Night Out’.

The Grand Yorkshire 10K will start at 4.00pm on the Saturday afternoon, giving you plenty of time to make your way to Bridlington (and maybe even have some pre-race fish and chips)

Following the race, we can promise you a lively night out in the luxurious surroundings of Bridlington Spa:

There will be talks from Tracey Morris (Great Britain Olympic marathon runner) and Tom Williams (star of the legendary Marathon Talk podcasts).
There will be a practical ‘drills and stretches’ session, aimed at improving your flexibility and helping to make you more resistant to injury, run by Alison Rose and her team from the Carnegie Sports Physiotherapy Clinic in Leeds. Alison’s clients have include both Kelly Holmes and Jess Ennis. This session will take place on the dance floor at the Spa, so you will already be warmed up and in position for…
A Disco and live band: you can help to disprove the theory that runners can’t dance!
Healthy food will be available throughout the evening, along with a late bar to assist in the all-important business of post-race rehydration…
After a bit of a ‘lie in’, you are invited to assemble on the vast expanse of Bridlington’s South Sands for the ‘Beat The Clock’ 4 mile Beach Race for a civilised 11.30am start (don’t worry, we have checked the tide times and you won’t be at any risk of drowning). The unique format of this event is explained in detail on the race’s own web page, but suffice to say that you will have to take into account the terrain, the weather conditions, the effect of the previous day’s 10K race and, of course, the consequences of the previous evening’s festivities in the Spa when deciding when you will venture across the Start line.

The weekend package costs £25 for runners who are members of a UKA-affiliated running club (£27 for ‘Unattached’ runners).

Grand Yorkshire 10K: Sat 4th June at 4.00pm
Spa Entertainment: Sat 4th June from 7.00pm – 1.00am
