Running the Guernsey Ultra

Running the Guernsey Ultra (21st May 2017) I have never been to Guernsey, so my wife and I decided to go on holiday with me running in the race, what a great excuse! Guernsey for those who don’t know is the second largest of the Channel Islands (the largest being Jersey) situated just off the Normandy coast of France.  It’s basically 36 miles all around its coastal paths, so this Ultra is once around the island more or less 36 miles. Ossy Oiks Fell Race 2017

The next race in the Dave Parry Summer Fell Race Series is a tough one. Ossy Oiks has a fell running classification of AS. Which means it is a short race with some very steep climbs and descents. The organisation baton has been passed from Loftus and Whitby AC who organised the Fox and Hounds to Thirsk and Sowerby. A map of the route can be seen by clicking here. Fox and Hounds Fell Race 2017

The first race in the Dave Parry Summer Fell Race Series 2017 is the Fox and Hounds on Wednesday 17th May 2017. This is the 30th Anniversary of the classic race and it is being organised by Loftus and Whitby AC. The route is about 8 miles long with 1400 feet of ascent and is mainly on singletrack moorland paths. Fell shoes or very grippy nimble trail shoes would be best for this event.
