The last race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series was the Maybeck Three Crosses. A cool day with a bit of rain and a strong breeze. The final race in the Northern Runner/ Esk valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Maybeck 3 Crosses on Sunday 19th April 10.30am start. The race is 11km long with 390 metres of ascent. The start/finish/registration is in the Maybeck Car Park, Near Whitby North Yorkshire. This is one mile past the caravan park at grid reference 8955040. Entry is on the day only and £6. The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell race Series was an in and out day with some rain and strong winds on the top but a lot warmer in the valley. In the men’s race Cameron Taylor was soon out in front with Chris Roberts just behind then a little group of Paul Darroch, Harry Holmes, Ian McGrath and Simon Collins. The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race is Broughton Woodles Wobble on Sunday 12th April. This was postponed in February due to the snow. The race now starts at the earlier time of 9.30am. Entry and registration is from the Clay Bank car park just south of Great Broughton and Stokesley (Grid ref 572036). Entry is £6 on the night only. The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series was the Guisborough 3 Tops. This was run over the slightly modified course that will be used for the English Fell Running Championship Counter in September. It was a beautiful day for running. The ground was generally firm and the temperature was the warmest of the spring so far. The new course needed testing before we use it for The English Championship Race.
