If you are looking for a great trail race then look no further than the Clennell Trail Marathon and 10 Miler on the 2nd August. The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Broughton Woods Wobble on Sunday 1st February 2015. The event is a challenging 7.3km route with 372 metres of ascent which makes it an category A fell race. Registration is at Clay Bank Car Park,nr Great Broughton, Stokesley (grid reference 572036). The weather for the latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series was cold with frost hard in the ground making running slower. There was another record turnout and a late start record to continue- inadvertently- the 11.00 a.m. starts of the last two races. Everyone however seemed in good humour and the field set off immediately splitting into two crocodiles on the ascent. The juniors managed to negotiate their courses without too much of a to do! A wet and mild winter’s day led to some slippery conditions but with spirit well into the ethereal blue the field soon absorbed the course in full celebration of the New Year. In the men’s event Paul Lowe returned to full form to gain his 6th victory in this event.
