Simonside Cairns Fell Race 2014

This years Simonside Fell Race is on Sunday 14th December starting at 11am from the centre of Rothbury, Northumberland. Registration is in the Newcastle House Hotel and entry is £5. The run itself is 17.7 km long with 540 metres of ascent. The route has most of it’s climbing at the start and a lovely long runable descent at the end. Eskdale Eureka Fell Race 2014

The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Eskdale Eureka on Sunday 14th December. Entry is on the day only and £7 the race starts at 10.30am. The race registration/Start/Finish is in the Car Park above grid reference 680078 which is just west of Castleton, North Yorkshire. As many of our customers will know Drew Graham, who was a Gosforth Harrier, had a serious accident on 21st September. Drew worked at Northern Runner during his holidays from studying in the USA where he now lives. Gosforth Harriers are running a Coast to Coast relay to raise money to help Drew pay his medical bills during his long road to recovery. Levisham Limping Fell Race Report and Results 2014

A day of mud sweat and tears! It was certainly the muddiest I have ever seen in a muddy area. This of course sapped the strength of the runners making them work much harder than normal. In the men’s race Matthew Hayes and Chris Roberts were head to head most of the way with a tiring Ian McGrath just behind for 2/3rds of the run.
