The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is Gisborough Moors Fell Race on Sunday 13th April 2014. This is the Classic Fell Race on the North Yorkshire Moors the route is 12.5 miles long and goes over Captain Cook, Roseberry Topping and High Cliffe Nab. The weather provided a contrasting backdrop. Thick ice the previous morning caused a series of accidents near the start but we escaped that and despite the early cold the race set off into sunshine. If you were in early you just about dodged the hail storms and dropping temperatures. The fun starts at 10.30am from the Lion Inn, Blakey Rigg, South of Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors. Entry is on the day only. This race is a bit more hilly than the other races in the series. It’s 10.5 miles long with anout 2700 feet of ascent. Click here to see the race map.
Scott have joined forces with Northern Runner to sponsor this years Pier to Pier, which takes place on Sunday 11th May. The Pier to Pier race is one of the more popular runs in the North of England with around 1000 entries each year. The race Starts on the beach at South Shields Pier and follows the beach and coastal footpaths to finish about 7 miles later at the Pier on Roker Beach in Sunderland. Click here for an entry form.
