Another sultry night which made for fast running. As they set off it was the usual culprit injecting the pace in Paul Butler through to Greenhill with Jack Willis hanging in behind then a group of four led by Cameron Taylor. In the women’s race Kay Neesam set off quickly followed by Shelli Gordon and Nicola Kent. Haveing been called off due to snow and ice the Blakey Blitz Fell Race took place on the 5th August. The Lion Inn must have been the coldest place in Britain at 8.00a.m. By the race start it had warmed up considerably and with a strong breeze made for ideal running conditions. On the first climb Ewan Brown had pulled away from the field as had Paul Butler in second.
