It was a very hot night with temperatures around 27 degrees C for the latest round of the Northern Runner / Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series. The course was as dry as a bone so going was good. At the start the usual culprits shot away in Paul Butler, Cameron Taylor and James Bulman. The field was very soon strung out in the long climb up to the top. Registration is at the car park to the south of Chop Gate, south of Great Broughton (Grid Ref SE 558 993. The latest round of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series soar temperatures rising to 25 degrees. In these conditions this proved a very testing route. Cameron Taylor made light of the first climb going up like a train with a clear lead at the top of about 45 secs. Catherine Williamson likewise was up with the small group of chasers to Cameron and had a slight lead on Kay Neesam.
