The GL3D is a small but adventurous three-day mountain marathon with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that attracts both runners and long-distance walkers. Over the years the event has built up a small but dedicated following of competitors who enjoy the challenge of three long, consecutive days in the hills. Entries are now open for the Crummock/Buttermere Trail Race on Sunday 1st April 2012. This is a 10 mile run around the shores of Buttermere and Crummock Water. The course is a low level route with a mix of hard packed rocky trails, woodland singletrack and grassy tracks. For more information and to enter online click here.
The next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is The Beacon Fell Race on Sunday 12/02/12. The race will register, start and finish at the Danby Information Centre (Danby, North Yorhshire, near Castleton on top of the North York Moors) which is a new venue and will slightly alter the route. The race will still be about 8 miles with 1100 feet of ascent. The fun starts at 10.30am. See you there !
Northern Runner now has Blaydon Race entry forms. This is a very popular race with a 4,000 runner limit so if you want to run then get your entry in ASAP. Blaydon Race is in it’s 32nd year and is always run on the 9th June which this years is on a Saturday. The run kicks off at 6pm and goes from the Big Market in Newcastle to the ‘playing fields’ at Shibdon Pond Blaydon a distance of 5.9 miles.
Entries are now open for the 56th Chevy Chase Fell Race and Walk. This is a 20 mile event that starts and finishes at Wooler Youth Hostel and goes over Cheviot and Hedgehope. This years event will take place on Saturday 7th July 2012. The places are limited and the event is very popular so if you are up for the challenge then enter online now.
