Clay Bank East Fell Race

Clay Bank East Fell Race is the next race in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series and is on Sunday 15th January. Registration is in Clay Bank Car Park and the race starts at 10.30 am. The race is 6 miles long with 1,000 feet of ascent. For the last four years or so it has either been canceled or run in snow. Captain Cooks Fell Race Results New Years Day 2012

It was another fantastic day with a record entry, the warmest weather ever and possibly the wettest due to the heavy rain in the first half of the race. Going therefore was muddy or is it ‘cacky!’ It was a huge surge at the start with runners filling the narrow ‘C’ road right up to the farm where a change in footing squeezed the line. Guisborough Four Seasons Results 2011

Northern Runner’s Charlie Stead (NFR) managed to scrape a win in this years Guisborough Four Seasons which is all the Fell Races that start from Guisborough over the year. The series winner is worked out on accumulated time for the four races (Gisborough Moors, Guisborough Grunt, Guisborough 3 Tops and Guisborough Woods). The ladies title was taken by Kay Neesam of New Marske Harriers.

Hill Forts and Headaches Report and Results 2012

Mild and dry conditions greeted the runners for this year’s Hillforts and Headaches Race. Another record turnout of 84 beating last years 76, indicating an upward trend in numbers for fell running. About one third of the field from NFR and other runners from as far afield as St. Albans, Woolacombe and Darlington. Captain Cooks Fell Race Photo’s 2012

A wet course was turned into a swamp by the rain that started just as the runners where about to set off in the first of the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series in 2012. Jim Bulman managed to pull of a win in front of Cameron Taylor of host club Esk Valley.
