Another brilliant day’s racing ont’ Moor.’ In the men’s race there was a competitive race between four men:- Mike Fanning, Charlie Stead, Cameron Taylor and Matt Hayes. They were all within range of each other with Mike taking a lead at Roseberry Common. By the time they reached Hanging Stone Mike had a substantial lead with the chasing three still in touch with each other. On the day of the Snowdonia Marathon a new marathon has just been announced. Entries will open on the 1st November for the Trail Marathon Wales. The City of Sunderland now has it’s own marathon. Under the trendy name of ‘Marathon of The North’ Sunderland will host a marathon on the same day as the annual 10km. The first event will take place on 6th May 2012. For more details click here.
The Thirsk 10 has been run for over 30 years and in the early days it was run from Northallerton to Thirsk. Offering a spectacular finish in Thirsk Market Place. The next race in the Northern Runner/Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Guisborough Three Tops on Sunday 30th October. Registration is at the Rugby Club in Guisborough and the race starts at 10.30 am. As usual you can only enter on the day. The route is about 8 miles long with about 2000 feet of ascent making it an A Medium in Fell Running classifications. Change of venue was very popular particularly the cakes. Despite 33 runners in POW. Camp, two interrogated by the SS, exploding shells, tanks and troops of GI’s and Scots Highlanders manoeuvring it was a brilliant day for racing.
