Carlton Challenge 26th April 2011

The Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series kicks of with Carlton Challenge on Tuesday 26th April at 7pm. The Race is about 5 miles long with 850 feet of ascent. Northern Runner’s Newcastle shop will be open the following hours over Easter: Thursday 21st April 10am to 7pm Friday 22nd April 11am to 4pm Good Friday Saturday 23rd April 9am to 5.30pm Sunday 24th April closed Easter Sunday Monday 25th April 11am to 4pm Easter Monday After that we will be back to normal opening times.

Gisborough Moors Fell Race Report and Results 2011

A wonderful day with sunshine ordered in for the 34th running of ‘The Moors.’ With a good turn out the best for a number of years close on 220 runners set out plus 11 in The Junior Race. Phil Sanderson was his usual explosive and determined self setting off at a lick. He soon established a short lead being chased by three of his club colleagues. Redkite Challenge 2011

If you fancy an excuse to visit a very lovely part of Wales then why not enter the Red Kite Challenge. The event consists of an 11.5 mile hilly trail race on Saturday 30th April and a shorter event to get the stiffness out of your legs on the Sunday. For more details click through from here.

Gisborough Moors 2011 Pictures

The 34th Gisborough Moors was run in clear sunny conditions. A fitting end to the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series. The men’s race was won by Phil Sanderson of Northumberland Fell Runners who lead the NFR Team who filled the first 4 places. The ladies race was won by Kate Rawnsley (New Marske) more detailed results and report will follow including details of the series winners.
