Do you remeber: Sam Carey running London Marathon in barefeet ?

When the barefoot running debate is discussed everyone talks about the africian runners running barefoot. Abibe Bikila winning the Olympic Marathon in Rome in 1960 in 2 hours 15 minutes with no shoes. Glaisdale Rigg Results and Report

An overcast day with an odd hint of rain did not dampen the spirits of the athletes on this inaugural run at Glaisdale. It might have been chilly but many were looking forward to the Arncliffe Arms chilli at the end. Barefoot/Minimalist Running Debate

The barefoot running debate is getting very confusing for most runners, especially if you have successfully used quality running shoes. We have customers who have come into Northern Runner with aches and pains, usually shin splints or knee niggles, and gone away with the correct shoes that have resolved these problems. Great Langdale Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and 3km Family Fun Run

We now have entry forms for the Great Langdale Marathon, 1/2 marathon and 3km Family Fun Run. These events are on Saturday 25th September in 2011. The marathon is without doubt one of the most challenging in the country. It is also one of the most bueatiful. Should anyone feel light of feet and fancy a challenge there is £100 cash prize for a new course record (Current record 2hrs 41 minutes 55 seconds).

Glaisdale Rigg

We had a fun day at the Glaisdale Rigg yesterday. The newest race in the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series. As it was a new race all the winners set course records. Paul Butler (Loftus and Whitbey) won the men’s in a time just under the hour. Fiona Blackett (Durham Fell Runners) won the ladies in just over 67 minutes. Photo’s and results to follow.
