Ninety hardened fell runners finished the tough Blakey Blitz Fell Race on Sunday. Paul Butler (Loftus and Whitby AC) lead them home. Finishing a minute in front of Northumberland Fell Runners Gary Jones who battled hard to fend of Lewis Banton (Clowne RC) who won the first ever Blakey Blitz 3 years ago. The next race in the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the challenging Blakey Blitz. The race starts and finishes from the Lion Inn up on Blackey Ridge near Danby and cover 9.5 miles with 2300 plus feet of ascent. For more details including a route map click here.
Jim Mann of Durham Fell Runners completed a Winter Bob Graham in 20 hours 39 minutes. A great achievement even on a dry summers day with more day light. Click through to his report. But, Jim is not finished yet. The season is only just getting going. This weekend he will be competing in the Hardmoors 55. This is an ultra trail race from Helsmsley to Gisborough following the Cleveland Way. It is also the first long race in the Run Further Ultra Series. Good luck to Jim.
