High Cup Nick

The High Cup Nick Race saw Ricky Lightfoot (Ellenbrough) beat Bingley’s Robb Jebb by over a minute to take the win. Pippa Maddams (Keswick) took victory in the ladies race. For full results click here.

Course Records fall at the Commondale Clart

The latest round of the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series, Commondale Clart lived upto it’s name. Click here to see the pictures. To say it was muddy was an understatement but, despite this course records where broken in both the men’s and women’s categories. Lewis Rodgers (Loftus and Whitby) beat club mate Paul Butler to break the men’s record. Morag Stead (Morpeth Harriers) had a clearer lead in the ladies race to also lower the record. The Kielder Borderer lives upto it’s Britains Worst Fell Race tagline

Britain’s Worst Fell Race, or as it is known to the locals, The Kielder Borderer, had the weather to match its name. A few inches of wet snow on the ground and a strong & cold wind but not cold enough to freeze the ground so your feet were wet and numb all the way round. High Cup Nick Fell Race

The High Cup Nick Race takes place on Saturday 26th February 2011 at 2pm. This is a 9 mile race with 1500 feet of ascent that starts and finishes in the little village of Dufton, near Penrith in Cumbria. The race is organised by Morgan and Lucy Donnelly both members of Northumberland Fell Runners before moving to Cumbria. As well as the main race there is races for kids over 6 and above. Race 10 in the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Commondale Clart on Sunday 27th February 2011. The start, finish and registration is at the Cleveland Inn, Commondale (662104) in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. The race starts at 10.30am for details of the route click here.
