New Years Day Races

The next round of the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell race Series is Captain Cooks Race on New Years Day. Registration is from the Royal Oak in the centre of Great Ayton. The Race starts at 11am and is a 5 mile run with a steepish climb upto Captain Cooks monument and a great descent over the fields. Guisborough Woods

Well it was good to get a race on despite the weather. You will see from the photos the depth of snow but thankfully there was very little icing and going was good in these conditions. In the men’s race Phil Sanderson set off very strongly chased by Luke Adams, Paul Lowe and Paul Butler. Guisborough Woods Race

The Next round of the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series is Guisborough Woods on Monday 27th December 11am Start. Registration is at Guisborough Rugby Club. It is a short jog from here to the forestry where the race starts and finishes. Essentially the race is 3 Laps of a mainly wooded loop made up of forestry track and muddy single track. Lyon Inn snowed in

It was a wise decision to call of the latest round of the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series on Sunday when you look at the link which shows how much snow there was at Blackey Ridge.
