It was snowing at the start with temperatures around zero on the top ridge but few runners seemed to feel it and the general humour was relaxed. In the men’s race Jim Bulman, Charlie Stead, Mike Jeffries, Duncan Archer, Ian Wellock and Nigel Tate were soon in a group at the front. Morgan Donnelly (Borrowdale) stamped his authority on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race early on. The ex Northumberland Fell Runner won by a convincing 4 minutes from Salfords John Brown and Pete Vale (Mercia). It was good to see local lad Garry Jones (Northumberland Fell Runners) finish in 8th place on his first attempt …at the Three Peaks Race. Run Free at your local Park Run ! The Park Run’s are having a celebration on Saturday 29th May and want to get as many people running their events as possible. Park Runs are free 5KM runs that take place all around the country every Saturday. They are organised by volunteers and to take part all you have to do is sign up at www.parkrun.com and print out a barcode with your details on it. Cheviot Summit Race, this is the perfect up and down fell race. Starting at Langley Ford near Wooler in Northumberland the race simply runs up to the summit of Cheviot and back again. A distance of 6 miles with 2676 feet of Ascent. The race starts at 11am it’s £5 to enter and all the profits goes to Northumberland Sear…ch and Rescue.
