Blakey Blitz Results

A cold wind whipped across the course reducing the temperature from 9 to 11 in the late morning to 4 to 5 degrees. Runners generally wore more than they needed as once into the valleys it was a warm spring day. 112 brave souls set out and by checkpoint two Phil Sanderson held a two minute lead over the field. He went on to develop this to almost ten minutes by the finish despite a couple of tumbles on the way. Matthew John, Gary Webb and Charles Stead gave chase... Read More

Sanderson Holds Top Form at Clay Bank East

Phillip Sanderson, Northumberland Fell Runners, was in action again on Sunday at the latest round of the Northern Runner/Esk Valley Fell Race Series. After a storming run in the first English Championship Race of the season at Noonstone, Phil showed everyone a clean set of heels. After an initial tussle with Ian Wellock up the first climb the only problem for Phil was the strong blustery wind. Showing that his 19th place at Noonstone (4th over 40) was no fluke.
