Saucony was founded in 1898 in a small Pennsylvania Town on the banks of the Saucony River. Native Americans coined the name to mean ?swiftly running waters? - the Saucony logo depicts this idea. For the first 50 years the company specialised in shoes and boots for women and children, but since 1946 have concentrated on athletic shoes. They are now one of the few truly specialist brands who have committed themselves almost solely to running and the perfection of their running shoes without being side tracked by concern with fashion.
