This was more wins than Middlesborough's Steve Sutcliffe who won the race on four occasions in the 1980's and still holds the course record. Charlie recorded his first win in 1998 not winning again until 2004 and then won in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Charlie won in a slow winning time of 86 minutes for the 12.5 miles course with 2400 feet of ascent. The time reflecting the muddy conditions over the moors which was knee deep in places. He was chased all the way by Dan Middlesmass (Loftus AC) who also chased Charlie to a course record at the Eston Nab Knee Nocker the previous month. Northumberland Fell Runners finished first team.
The Ladies Race was won by Laura Clark (Valley Striders) who was brought up in Gisborough and returned to visit her parents and have a second go at the Classic Race.
