OMM 2010
Thursday 4 March 2010

This years OMM will take place on the 30th/31st October. For those unfamiliar with the Mountain Marathons and the OMM: Founded 1968 the OMM is the originator of the 2 day mountain marathon

type event. Formerly known as the Kimm or Karrimor International

Mountain Marathon it is for teams of 2, carrying all clothing,

equip...ment, tent, sleeping bag, food for 36 hours, navigating ones

own route and including an overnight camp. The event is recognised

internationally as the leading challenge of its kind and a significant

event in the adventure racing calendar.

There are a few changes this year as follows:The first key change must be advised as we open the entries.

Sustainability is about being welcome back to any area we visit and

therefore reducing and containing environmental impact is always a key

concern.

To achieve this we have added an extra class between the B &C classes

in order to reduce the number of feet visiting each control. However

the total number of entrants is unchanged.

*The original 'C' class* will now be called 'D' class and is the same

distance & climb as the old 'C' Class. *The new 'C' Class* is intended

to be a transition between the traditional linear course and the score

courses. At certain stages on the course competitors will need to

select which controls they want to visit. The result will still be

based on time and not points as the score class is.
