A very pleasant summer’s night in between the buckets of rain. We finally had a dry race with sunshine. This was a very fast paced race with the leaders soon opening up a sizeable lead with the first seven men still in contention at the old quarry climb. At the top of the wood however before the descent James Bulman, Cameron Taylor and Lewis Rodgers had managed to break with Paul Butler now losing a bit of ground. James now switched to a higher gear to see him home ahead of the field where there was a tight finish between Cameron and Lewis with Lewis getting ahead about 30M before the line. Paul was fourth with his club colleagues Rob Williamson and Steve Hardy 11th & 13th to give the team to Loftus & Whitby with Esk Valley second a reversal of The ‘Wobble.’ In the women’s event it was another battle between Kay Neesam and Nicola Kent at the front. Kay continued to show her improved form moving away from Nicola fairly early in the proceedings.
Sharon Bulman and Shelli Gordon ran well to finish 3rd and 5th to give the team event to New Marske. Esk Valley Men continue to lead the overall team competition ahead of North York Moors and Loftus & Whitby. Not to be out done Esk Valley women lead the overall team ahead of Thirsk & Sowerby with Loftus & Whitby third. Well done to Sue Haslam for easily the best veteran’s performance of the day. Hope to see you at The Carlton next week to raise funds for CSRT, so very few prizes unless you wish to donate one! …….. DAVE. p.s.WE WERE ABLE TO DONATE £125 TO THE SWAINBY PLAYING FIELD UPKEEP
