The weather just held off for a great night of fell running at the third counter in the Dave Parry/Northern Runner Summer Fell Race Series, Whorlton Run. 109 starters and finishers so well done everyone and £300 to playing fields funds, much appreciated by the playing field association who manage the site.

The tale of the tape, overall winner Rory Stead of Aberdeen AAC though lives locally, with second going to Michael Joyeux of Quakers. 3rd and 4th was the battle of York with Acorn’s Paul Whittaker leading homes Knavesmires Simon Collins.

Darlington Harriers claimed the men’s team with Paul Lowe (5th), Paul Allan, Shaun Marshall and Garry Collinson.

Kay Neesam eased to victory in the women’s race and led home the womens New Marske Harriers team to victory, with support from Kath Aspin (newly crowned BMAF V50 champion) and Shelli Gordon (easing back from her Hardmoors 200).

Second place was claimed by Ella Towers – indivdual and 3rd was Natalie Curgenven of Darlington Harriers.

Apologies i never went back to the 5th and 6th senior prizes, so well done, Paul Lowe Darlington Harriers – 5th and Jon Waller Penistone – 6th, in the womens 5th senior went to Kimberley Skiba NYMAC and 6th to Kirsty Struthers also NYMAC. Next local race, though not part of the Dave Parry Summer Series is Tom’s Bransdale Race, organised by Gareth Wilson in aid of the National Trust on Tuesday 11 July 2017 and the next Summer Series race is Inclined to Madness (York Acorn) on Wednesday 26th July start time 7.15pm.
