Gisborough Moors Fell Race Results 2015. A bright sunny day greated the runners for the 38th running of this classic fell race. Phil Sanderson, who won the race back in 2011, set off with his usual quick start and lead from gun to tape. Despite the best efforts of Northumberland Fell Runners John Malley and Charlie Stead and Loftus AC’s Paul Butler to close the gap. The trio almost made contact on the flatter or downhill sections only for Phil to pull away again on the climbs. Phil then ran very strongly over the final muddy sections to establish a lead of over a minute by the finish.

Sadly for Northumberland Fell Runners Phil Sanderson retired from competitive fell running a few years ago and so resigned from the club. So, unlike in 2011, when he lead a dominante Northumberland Fell Runners to the team victory with a score of only 10 points, Northumberland Fell Runners had to be content with third place in the team. Victory in the team event went to the consistent York Knavesmire AC with the local club Esk Valley Fell Runners in second.

Michelle Tenwick (Pudsey Pacers) was a new face to the Northern Runner/Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series and the Gisborough Moors Race looking very composed and in control with a 6 minute winning margin. The women’s team event was won by Ripon Runners ahead of Darlington Harriers with North York Moors in third.

The next event in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Winter Fell Race Series is the Saltergate/Levisham on 15th November 2015.
