Well back for the 35th Moors and still two men who have done them all – Chris Wright & Peter Whewell ( & one who has helped organise them all – me). It was another good running day with a wide ranging field in terms of clubs and abilities. Andy Blackett was the leader in the early stages with Lee Bennett, Charlie Stead , Paul Butler and Will Horsley all being within about 45 seconds of each other at Captain Cook’s Monument. In the women’s race Kay Neesam had established a good lead recovering from recent injuries at CCM. Shelli Gordon was chasing with Ella Towers after Shelli then Kim England and Janet Raper running together at this point. Dramatic changes in the men’s happened on the return to Little Roseberry with Andy making a navigational error. This let Lee through who even when he had crossed the line did not realise that he had won believing he had lost sight of Andy ahead. Paul Butler came through to take second place .Jason Cavill and Dan Middlemas came through to take 3rd and 5th, with Will hanging on to 4th. In the women’s Kay and Shelli were comfortably first and second, Kim held on to finish third ahead of Ella. In the teams Esk Valley were clear winners of the men’s led by Ian Smallwood with Durham FR hanging on to second just ahead of Pickering. In the women there was a draw between New Marske and Pickering ‘A’ the latter were winners on count back rules. Pickering’s prize needs awarding at the next and last race in the Winter series see you there …………………… Dave
