Winter weather continues to be wet which gives some unusual distractions during the race like a vehicle swept away in the flood waters at ‘Hob Hole.’ We set off in a break from the rain but it didn’t last long. At the front of the men’s race there was a titanic struggle between Robert Addyman and Dan Middlemas, first one would lead then the other. Compound this with a few mistakes each at turn, then a lost contact lens and the scenario continued to the finish line where Dan just pipped Robert by about a centimetre on the finish line.

In the women’s race it was a different story with Catherine Williamson running just behind her husband Rob for most of the race. Catherine finished in 9th overall a fantastic performance. Caroline Pollard continued her good form in second place being easily the best female veteran. Teams were very close with North Yorks Moors winning the men in a three way struggle with Esk Valley and Wetherby. New Marske won the women’s quite comfortably.
