The next event in the Northern Runner/ Esk Valley Summer Fell Race Series is the Cock Howe Classic on Wednesday 3rd August 2016. The start/finish and registration is at the Car Park just out of Chop Gate before the sharp corner if you are driving South from Stocksley on the B1257. If you are coming from Helmsley then the Car Park is just before you enter the village. There is a toilet block in the car park.

Entry is £6 on the night only and the race starts at 7pm. The event itself is a Classic Up and Down Fell Race 2.5 miles in length with 797 feet of ascent. This will be similar to the Cock Howe Up and Down Race which was run from 1996 to 2000. Alison Raw (Darlington) was the ladies record holder setting the record in 1998 with a time of 22.37. Alison returned a year later to win again in a time only 1 second slower. The men’s record was held by Dave Gamble (Mandale) in a time of 17.55.

Fell shoes will be best for this event. Although a grippy trail shoe will get you round.
