Cock Howe and Beyond Fell Race Results

July 28, 2012

A sultry night with mist and constant refreshing rain. Matthew Hammerton was soon in the
lead establishing a good gap by the time he reached the old farm buildings. A few of the pursuers managed to go wrong as they returned to the cairn at the top from the Bilsdale Mast. Darren Birtwistle in second managed to get this right whilst the pursuers were all over as they tried to recover their position.
In the women’s event Catherine Williamson was in that group of pursuers but still managed to be well clear in the female race. Shelli Gordon and Nicola Kent finished second and third. This gave the Loftus and Whitby women victory in the feamale team
event. In the men’s team Esk Valley led by Joe Johnson and Andrew Bennett were clear winners from North York Moors. The best veteran performances were by Nicola Kent in the women’s event and Andy Normandale in the men’s.
If anyone has suggestions and constructive comments about fixtures in the winter and summer leagues for next year please let me know as soon as possible as I have to plan these in August and would like to meet the needs and aspirations of runners in so far as
is possible. Hope to see you at Gribdale next week ……… Dave
