Eskdale Eureka Results

January 31, 2011

Eskdale Eureka, race number 8 in the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series:
Another brilliant day of running with 112 runners setting off on the route which was about 9 miles plus. The men’s race soon split into a large leading group of about nine runners. The lead changed fairly regularly and different runners led for a while until the next runner wove to the front. At Hob Hole on the return two main routes were chosen with Paul Leading on the higher route and Dan and Jim on the lower. Over the last moor towards Dibble again each runner chose their own route and on the run in Lewis Rodgers spurted to the front and held off a late attack by Jim Mann and Paul Butler.

In the women’s race Shelli continued her good form gradually pulling away from the rest of the field with her club colleague Kay Neesam being her main challenger. These two led New Marske to another comfortable team win resisted in the main by Scarborough. In the men’s team event Loftus and Whitby gained almost the perfect score to win from Durham and Esk Valley. Hope to see you in two weeks but check the registration venue!

Best Wishes Dave Parry
