The 6000 D is a classic mountain race that has been going for over 20 years now. The classic route is over 65km with 4000 metres of ascent reaching a high point of 3054 metres where the race goes onto the Bellecote Glacier.
The brits have done well here with Borrowdale’s Simon Booth winning in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Bingley’s Rob Jebb winning in 2004 and 2005 and Nick Sharp from Ambleside eventually winning in 2008 after finishing 3rd in both 2005 and 2006.
This years event will take place over the weekend of the 30th to 31st July. As well as the classic distance there is a shorter 2 Lakes Run and a longer Ultra Race. For details click the link here.
La Plagne is a bueatiful area and well worth the trip. As well as sking this area has also been made famous by the Tour de France so there is lots of challenging road climbs to have a go at.
