The postponed Angus Tait Memorial Hexhamshire Hobble finally took place on Sunday 9th January despite the cold winds and snow. Click here to see the results.

The rescheduled Simonside Cairns Race will take place on Sunday 16th January. Registration is in the Newcastle Hotel in Rothbury where the race starts at 11am and finishes when you have run the 11 miles and scaled the 1700 plus feet of ascent. Be prepared for winter conditions including carrying enough food and clothing to look after yourself.

The second fixture of 2011 in the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series produced some more wintery photo’s taken by David Aspin.

This years Pier to Pier is on Sunday 22nd May starting at 10am. The event is approximately 7.5 miles long. The Pier to Pier is one of the North East’s most popular runs. The Hexhamshire Hobble which was canceled due to the weather in December will be run on Sunday 9th January. All the details remain the same except the date. Wrap up warm as it will still be chilly on the top of the moors.

The next round of the Northern Runner/Eskdale Valley Winter Fell Race Series is on Sunday 9th January. Clay Bank East starts at 10.30am and registration is in Clay Bank Car Park ( Ref. 572036). The route is 5.8 miles with about 800 feet of ascent. There may well be a bit of snow around so come prepared for an adventure.
